Duty Shift Information

Alpha Shift

Hours: 0900-1700 (9a-5p)
Typical CO: Commanding Officer

Typically known as the first shift of the rotation, Alpha has the privilege of being run by the Commanding Officer of the ship. Typically the Captain. At changeover, the CO of Alpha shift relays a report of the daytime operations.


Beta Shift

Hours: 1700-0100 (5p-1a)
Typical CO: First Officer

Typically known as the middle shift of the rotation, Beta is usually commanded by the First Officer. At changeover, the CO of Beta shift relays a report of the evening operations.


Gamma Shift

Hours: 0100-0900 (1a-9a)
Typical CO: Rotated between the Senior Staff

Typically known as the overnight shift of the rotation, Gamma is usually rotated between the remainder of the Senior Staff. At changeover, the CO on duty relays a report of overnight operations.


Notes

It's rare to find more than 3 senior staff on duty any any specific time.
